Yes Virgina, There is Quality Open Source Software for Windows
Despite having Windows XP being made by Microsoft and their distaste for Open Source software there is lots of quality Open Source software for Windows users.
You can try them out with no cost, licensing problems or real risk. Most of them are pretty damn good and I prefer them to commercial software products.
My favorite Open Source software for Windows is:
OpenOffice.org
Office Suite with Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw and Database tools
GAIM
Instant messaging
Mozilla Thunderbird
Email and Newsgroups client, plus a spam filter
Mozilla Firefox
Best damn web browser ever made
Mozilla Calender
Time and Task Management
NVU
HTML and CSS coding FTP and site management, Based on Mozilla.
GIMP
Image editing
MySQL
Database
Apache
Web serving
PHP
Web scripting
SNES9X
Super Nintendo emulation
MAME
Classic arcade game emulation
WinHTTrack
Archiving downloading an entire website
Audacity
Audio editing
CDex
CD toMP3 ripping
Lame MP3
My favorite MP3 Encoder
Zinf
Digital music playing

Collect them all and trade them with your friends! They are pretty damn good and best of all they will not cost you one dime!

Wow I use almost everything on there as well. Though I still use WinAMP, but I have used Zinf. Instead of Gimp I've been using PhotoFiltre lately.

The GNU II open CD ( http://gnuwin.epfl.ch/ ) and The Open CD ( http://theopencd.sunsite.dk/ ) are excellent sources for OSS for Windows. It's great to burn them off and hand them out to friends. I've got one of each in my "CD's for a Reinstall" packet.
