WiFi and Trees

One of the coolest things that you can do with a WiFi connection and a notebook PC is to go outside into a nice natural area that is with in the WiFi range of your router hot spot.

WiFi Under a Tree

There is a full size pine tree in the court yard at my apartment building and the signal from my router is strong enough that I can sit about 200 feet from my apartment and enjoy this quiet beautiful morning in Washington state up close and personal. I would like to see big ass desktop PC users pull this one off. Personal computers should be personal and the ability to be anywhere and still be connected to the net at a high speed is one of the things that I most look forward to in the next couple years. Also this tree acts as shade, shelter and nice place to lean against.

Lets all hear it for WiFi and trees.

That is definitely something I can not achieve with my desktop. Of course, I don't have any cool shady trees like that around my house, so it's all good.

I really like taking one of my deck chairs and sitting on my back porch with my laptop because all I can see is trees. Helps me forget I live right next to a shopping mall.
