What would Jesus drive?

I had this one in reserve for a while and it started from some comments I wrote on another blog.

Arianna Huffington on SUV public opinion.

You ever ask yourself "What would Jesus drive"?

I think it would be good to reflect on rampant consumerism and what Jesus would think about it and about what choice in transportation is really "Conservative" A smaller normal car that gets 35 to 45 MPG or an SUV that runs on imported oil from Saudi Arabia at 15 MPG and is classified by the EPA in the same environmental emissions standards as a bus. My father is an environmental chemist who drives a smaller truck that he keeps well tuned and watches the mileage.

I don't really see asking people to choose responsibly and well thought out as anti choice or anti American. You still have a choice to buy an SUV but I think it would be wise to think about your motivations and the consequences of your actions.

That is why I dont drive an SUV....because I cant afford the gas really, and i dont really have a need for one. That said... This media whore is about as believable as Barbara Streisand who she is close personal friends with. She is a self proclaimed "hollywood progressive" (read socialist activist). I think that we should at least be honest if we are going to label people well then lets REALLY get down to it. I mean this woman and Paul Begala say that the president is an idiot. You know what i think is really hilarious and hypocritical about this? The fact that these limousine liberals are all VERY rich. I mean do you really believe that she is driving (herself) around town in a tiny Honda eco hybrid-electric car? Am I nuts here or do people NOT THINK? The quantitative use of fossil fuels doesnt just extend its mighty hand out just to SUV owners. Fossil fuels drive power plants and heat your home and make plastics possible. Do you really think that SUVs are what is causing our huge dependence on foriegn oil? Could it be the massive amounts of infrastructure and transportation that allows an average American to buy FRESH strawberries transported by truck or train from California....the day they were picked.
Everything that you consume .....everything.....absolutely everything has oil ALL OVER IT. Anything that is moved from point A to point B to your store ....where you buy it FOR CHEAP (walmart)is tainted by the absolutely MASSIVE infrastructure that it took to get it there. The reason why Europe doesnt have this problem as badly as we do is that they are small individual countries. The United States is huge. I just wish that IDIOTS like this bitch would shut the f*ck up. I never remember hearing any of this complaining when Clinton was in office. Now its all this rubbish about how everything has changed overnight, Bush destroyed the economy, suddenly theres a homeless problem.. again....The economy will never recover, suddenly CEOs are dishonest, the Republicans are fostering hatred and violence with thier AM radio programs,(1991)no blood for oil(1998)Saddam must be stopped.(2002)no blood for oil.....need i say more? If this is really about getting the oil from Saddam then why not just lift the sanctions?
all the spectres and bogeymen that she can dredge up....she is a desperate mouthpiece for a defeated philosophy. I think that pretty much covers it. (end rant)

She is a San Francisco Liberal....uh i mean progressive....uh i mean...populist.....uh i mean......SOCIALIST!!!!!
here is how she feels about bush in Waco.
August 15, 2002
"Wacko In Waco: The Brunch Bushians Drink The Kool-Aid
At the behest of their charismatic leader, the cult members gathered in Waco, a hot, dusty town on the flat, featureless central Texas plain. They had been summoned to hear an endless series of droning sermons from the leader himself and his fellow fanatics."
does that sound like a conservative to you??? where are you getting this idea that she was GOP?

Posted by: pete at December 6, 2002 3:33 PM

Well. She was highly supportive of Newt and Dole and critical of Clinton back in the mid 90s. This is the first I have heard from her in a while.

Posted by: Jake at December 6, 2002 3:37 PM

Maybe she is a Feminist and that is why she didnt like ol slick willie. I know that she hangs with the extreme left crowd...Nancy Pelosi, Robert Reich etc...ad nauseum....and I have never read anything anywhere that she was a GOP supporter...well i guess i will have to dig a little. Are you sure your thinking of the right lady?
