What the Console Makers should say E3
If I were Sony I would announce the following things at E3:
Add Grand Theft Auto 3 to the Greatest Hits collection thus pricing it at 20 bucks.
Lower the Price of the PS2 to $150 and include a coupon for a free Playstation2 Greatest Hits game. That would allow them to pick Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid 2, Gran Turismo 3 or Grand Theft Auto 3 as a pack in. The Genesis sales really took off when Sega ditched Altered Beast and included a Sonic game.
Or keep the price of the PS2 at $200 but include a memory card and a choice of two Greatest-hits Games. The choice of pack in games has really helped Nintendo but then again Sony does not really need much help right now.
Also Sony should announce better third party developer support for online PS2 games. Sony should really start smacking developers who ignore online game play and make it easier to do. I would announce a deal with Sega to make the Sega SNAP Network game tool set really cheap to PS2 game developers
Sony is now bundling the Network Adaptor with the PS2 in Japan so we might see that at E3.
Also I would bring out the Web Browser for PS2 in Japan to the US.
If I ran Nintendo I would announce at E3:
I would announce that we were actually getting off our asses and bringing Gamecube online.
A Kid Icarus Gamecube or GBA game would be cool!
Humm. I don't have too many suggestions for Nintendo. Besides the lack of online support they seem to be doing as best as they can.
If I were in charge of the Xbox team at Microsoft I would announce at E3:
I would stop dumping money into selling the Xbox in Japan. It just is not working out.
I would suck up to Capcom and Konami more and try to get them to make more games for the Xbox.
I would announce that there are going to be more non-sports games for Xbox Live.
I would announce how much Xbox Live is going to cost next year and dispel the rumors that Xbox Live will move to a monthly fee.
Well that is it. There is my 200 Yen.

I think your analysis of microshafts XBOX **bling!** is exactly right. Nintendo also should think about focusing more on advertising....i see a conspicuous lack of advertising for thier products in the mainstream. Sonys playstation ads were cutting edge and almost made me want to go out and buy one!

On Monday I saw that Nintendo had an ad for the Gameboy Advance SP in Safeco Field just to the left of home plate. But here is the catch. It was a 100% Japanese language ad at an US Baseball game. Wow I knew Ichiro was popular in Japan but damn!

Speaking of online play, I work at an isp, and one of our dsl customers was trying to get his PS2 online through our router. So we took the inititave (we baby our customers so bad) and found out which ports to forward to make the game work. During my research it seemed that all the games used whatever ports they wanted. I couldn't believe that Sony didn't specifiy a port range for acceptable use and put documentation for dsl/cable routers in with their network adapter.

I read that GTA is coming to the PC and there is an 80's CD if you pre-order.
Heard anything on this?
The CD is about all I need to be convinced!

GTA 1 2 and 3 are on the Windows PC. GTA 1 was recently remade as freeware and is can be downloaded from Rockstar games website. GTA 3 requires a very beefy PC but is a lot of fun. Peter Clute of this site like it and so do I. GTA Vice City is headed for a PC release soon.
Read this Heeya. http://www.8bitjoystick.com/archives/001081.php
The CD soundtracks are great.
