Toys R Us Can Occasionally Kick Ass for Games

SpongeBobGBASP.jpg
Today I have two very cool game related things at Toys R Us to tell you all about.

First of all I forgot to reserve my copy of Castlevania : Dawn of Sorrow for the Nintendo DS. It just slipped my mind and I never got around to reserving my copy before the us launch.

By the time it shipped in the US all the game stores in my area were sold out of all non-preordered copies. I had a similar situation with Grand Theft Auto : Vice City. However I called Toys R Us and they had a copy and they put it aside for me. I called in the morning and picked it up right after work. So now I don't have to wait another week to play the English language version of this kick ass game. It sort of saddens me to see Toys R Us is now selling reservations of popular games. It used to be that they use to be the only place to get your hands of a hot game that was bound to sell out on the first day. I guess I learned my lesson and will reserve my games that I can't wait for from now on.

The other cool thing is that Toys R Us is selling an exclusive Spongebob Squarepants Gameboy Advance SP that is colored like Spongebob and has his face on the screen so when you fold it up it looks like you got a Spongebob in your hand. That is pretty damn cool. This is the brighter new version of the SP that is as bright as the Nintendo DS and the Gameboy Micro. I would have gotten one if I did not already have a GBA SP, Nintendo DS and a Gameboy Player attached to my Gamecube. I can see kids all over America crapping their pants instantly at the store when they see a GBA SP that looks like their beloved sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea.

Uh, Toys R Us has been selling reservations for games since the NES days...

I reserved Mario 3 back in the late 80s...

I also reserved FF7 back in the mid 90s...

I don't know why you would be saddened that Toys R Us lets you reserve games...

Personally I miss the days were you would take a little paper ticket up to the front for games and they'd go in the inventory room and get it for you. No bashed up, smacked around games! Also I really wish Nintendo would do something worthwhile if they were going to "improve" the GBA, something it needs like, I dunno - maybe beef up the RAM instead of make the screen nicer?

Does anyone know what the fuss is over the new DS? I tried to find some pics on images.google.com and dont see much of a difference.
