The Great Sasuke Lays the Smackdown in Parliament!

The Great Sasuke With MaskI know this may be old hat but I just wanted to talk about how cool it is that The Great Sasuke a Japanese Pro Wrestler was elected to local prefecture government. He as not taken off his trademark mask all through out the campaign and even when he enter the parliament he will not take off his trademark wrestling mask. He is my favorite politician holding office today.

The Great Sasuke won the seat at the Iwate Prefectural Assembly after garnering the largest number of votes in the Morioka district in the election on April 13.

"People cast their votes for me as a masked man," he said soon after being elected. "I will never take off my mask until I retire from the wrestling ring."

Wow... that brings me back to my former home state of Minnesota, and the former govener Jessie "The Body" Ventura. He did a lot of good for the state, even with his tendancy to stick his foot in his mouth any time he opened it.

So what good did Ventura do for the State?

If he does half as well a job as he's done in his matches, he'll be fine. I might order a tape of his now.

He helped fix up the public school system. Well, as much as you can fix up something so helplessly doomed as the public schools are.
He did other stuff too, but seeing as that I lived in three different states, none of them MN, at the time of his governership, I don't know much of what he did beyond that.

My mom is a public high school teacher in Pasco WA that is not failing and doing a good job serving the children of the community. They have turned the school around and now it is one of the best schools on the east side of the state. My Dad is a professor at a public college (WSU) and my grandfather was a professor at yet another public college. (U of Nebraska).

There is a private catholic high school in Pasco now but their prices failed to impact the enrollment in the non-profit pubic schools.

I don't think public schools are doomed as long as the public supports them.

Ventura was still a one timer.
