Ten Features I Want in the Next Xbox Dashboard Update

Here is a list of ten things I want to see in the next Xbox 360 software update.

Xbox 360

1. Support for play lists in the video player

2. Support for watching (non-DRMed) videos off an iPod

3. The ability to turn off friend sign in notifications but leave all other kinds of pop up notifications.
I want to be able and get all download notifications, Achievements notifications and game invites notifications but I don't care who is popping in and out of their Xbox 360s while I am playing a game or watching a video

4. Xbox One games to show up in Gamertag card. I want Xbox one games to at least show up in your Gamertag card. So if I play a lot of an old game at least it will show up in my Gamertag card most recently played games list. They could just use the original Xbox logo.

5. NTFS formatted USB drive support. Since FAT-32 has a 4-gig file size limit it can hinder MPEG-4 files of a high definition recording. The ironic thing is that the Xbox 360 runs a custom version of the NT kernel in it's OS and NTFS was the native file structure of the old NT system.

6. An RSS based Podcasting client for Audio and video podcasts. The 360 has the potential to be an awesome podcasting client.

7. A web browser. If the Sega Saturn , Sega Dreamcast, PSP, PS2 (in Japan the PS2 had a web browser), PS3, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS can all run a basic web browser without any major problems why can't the Xbox 360 have one? Dosen't Microsoft makes a couple mobile web browsers?

8. The ability to use different user generated custom pictures for each blade of the OS. I like it that I can use my own images but I can't do those spiffy multiple blade designs.

9. The ability to sign into and account using any other controller besides "Controller 1". If I have my Guitar Hero 2 controller plugged into my USB port it is always the first controller when I boot up my Xbox and then I can't sign into an account with my wireless controller since it is automatically set to controller 2. this would help my girlfriend who just wants to play Hearts and Pinball and is not totally down with all the minor details of the Xbox GUI.

10. Approve all printed versions of an Xbox One game when added to the BC List.
When they add a Backwards Compatibility Xbox One title to the list of Backwards Compatibility games they need to make sure to approve all printed versions of that game. For example. The stand alone version Star Wars: Clone Wars works but the version that was bundled with Tetris Worlds does not work. The stand alone version of Jet Set Radio Future works but the version that was bundled with Sega GT does not work. They are the same game running the same code but both need to be certified and blessed to work on the 360.

that's really lame that the xbox 30 won't read games like tetris worlds and jet set radio. It's the same XBE executable on the disc, it just has an XBE file that loads up the menu to let you choose which XBE to load. On my modded Xbox 1, I backed up both games seperatly (so i didn't have to load a menu, then load a game.) to my hard drive by ripping the jsrf folder to the hard drive. :-\

I'm 100% positive that it wouldn't take very much programming to get that boot menu XBE backwards compatable. If you do the firm ware hack on your 360 to play back ups, you could then rip the clone wars XBE from the tetris worlds bundle, compile it to an XISO and burn it...but that's way too much work to get a damn game working. heh. Also to rip the game to a computer you'd need a modded (either soft or hard) Xbox 1 which I'm pretty sure you don't have (but since you have a 360 you might as well mod an xbox 1. Emulators and media centers oh my)

If you mod an xbox 1, you can get an X360 skin for Xbox MEdia Center, which has playlists for videos you can stream over your network or put on your harddrive via FTP and a web browser, either with a usb keyboard and mouse (xbox 1 controllers are usb in a different case) or via controller.

so hackers did a few things on the xbox 1 that should be on the 360. :-\

I would rather just get a MacMini to hook up to my TV if I really waned to run emulators on my TV. I like my 360 too much to attempt to mod it. I paid four hundred bucks for it and I want it to last.

well the xbox actualy has more emulators that are more stable than OSX, and it has four controller ports. You wouldn't need controller to usb adaptors for it. It's just there. And with a modded Xbox your games can all be backed up to the hard drive, which has a faster load time as well as convenience. Imagine you have street fighter AE backed up to your Xbox (as well as MAME with every version of SF) you could just take your xbox to BBQ's rather than a console with discs.

If you have an Xbox 1, now that you have a 360 I see no reason why you couldn't soft mod it. It's literally a 10 minute process that requires a memory card, hacked game save, and the first print of mechassault.

More stable that OSX come on now. I've never had an emulator or game crash on my Mac.
I've only brought my Xbox One to BBQ's place once and it almost threw my back out.
