Some Special Halloween Reading Stuff
Tomorrow is Halloween and I thought I would give out some special Halloween reading stuff to mark the holiday.
First off is The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. Since I first published this I have gotten a steady stream of comments and search engine hits from it.
Ohh that was scary. Now for something really scary. Here are my favorite Chick Tracks comics from everyone's favorite conspiracy theory laded religious fundamentalist comic publisher and all around asshole Jack Chick. He is one of those guys who makes Christians look bad.
Next as a public service anouncement here is How to survive a Horror Movie
Let's look up Halloween in the Wikipedia to get a bit of a historical perspective.
This was the most evil time of the year. It was a Druidical belief that on the eve of this festival Samhain, lord of death, called together the wicked spirits that within the past 12 months had been condemned to inhabit the bodies of animals. During the night the great shield of Skathach was lowered, allowing the barriers between the worlds to fade and the forces of evil to invade the realms of order, the material world conjoining with the world of the dead. At this time ghosts, witches, hobgoblins, black cats, fairies and demons of all kinds roamed amongst the living. The dead could return to the places where they had lived and food and entertainment were provided to exorcize them. If food and shelter were not provided, these spirits would cast spells and cause havoc towards those failing to fulfill their requests.
And to all you down south I hope you have a bitching El Día de los Muertos : The Day of the Dead
I just put together my costume for this year. I am going as the The Yuppie Devil Muh-ha-ha-ha!

I still think you should dress up as a Nokia N-Gage. Then, BBQ could dress up as the yuppie/geek and sidetalk with you all night long!

That's awesome. Add your standard grim reaper outfit and you've got one badass ensemble.
