Skillz To Pay Da Billz

OK here is a rough plan that I have to possibly make some money and recoup the costs of the web comic.

I am thinking about creating a subscription extra section in addition to having a CafePress store with t-shirts and other loot. If an individual would donate say three dollars via PayPal or purchased an item from the CafePress store they would get a "Extra-section subscription" good for six months. If you donated or bought something with in six months you could email me a request for some of the extra goodies and I would email it back with the requested loot attached. That might work until I got a registration system for the extra section.

I would have a page catalog goodies such as high-resolution print-ready versions of the comic, desktop designs, wallpaper, You know cool stuff like that.

But at all times the comic and comic archive would be available to all for free.

This would be in addition to a banner ad at the top of each comic if I can sign on with a cool ad company. I would also love to make custom ads where my comic characters hock products and stuff .

I am not looking to make a real income off this but if I am going to spend hours on hours on this I should have a system in place to have some support from my readers. But perhaps I am getting ahead of myself. I have to make the bloody comic first.

That seems to be the growing trend with online comics.

There has been a good article by the d00ds at Applegeeks ( http://www.applegeeks.com/articles/051904/ ) on this subject that is worth reading.

Good idea, but i think it would be a good idea to get the comic popular and known before you try and press the pay content for a while.
