Shigeru Miyamoto likes the new Nintendo Revolution Controller

To the nay-sayers that don't like the new weird cyberspace wand controller for the Nintendo Revolution is say just relax and don't panic. If Shigeru Miyamoto thinks it is a good idea then it will probably be fun.

Activision, Atari, Bandai, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Konami, Midway, Namco, Sega, Square Enix, THQ, and Ubisoft have all ready publicly voiced support and enthusiasm for the Nintendo Revolution.

180px-Revcon_screen006.jpgGiving the fact that Nintendo is completing at a lower price point they will have a technically less powerful game system than Microsoft and Sony and they will have to rely on innovation and creativity to make a real connection with the game playing audience. I think this is one of those thing that will give them an edge and I think the industry will be better as whole because of it.

This is not the ONLY controller for the Nintendo Revolution. There will surely be traditional gamepads, fighting sticks, dance pads and that sort of stuff for the Revolution.

This controller might make home systems more like arcade games with custom controllers and can give third party game developers different human computer interaction experiences to work with. I mean it is 2005 and joysticks and buttons have been around for two decades with slight changes. I am encouraged by Nintendo wanting to do something different.

I have been playing my new copy of Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! on Nintendo DS and while the PSP can crank out more polygons my Nintendo DS the DS can just be really fun and different. That is what I expect from the Nintendo Revolution. It is going to be different, fun and ultimately that is a very good thing.

sure it is... by the time we actually get our hands on a ps3 over here in the UK we will have already had wii for months and a whole load of games to enjoy.

Wii is all about entertainment and less about fancy graphics... dont get me wrong, I love sony to bits... but once you've been around as long as I have watching the video game industry, you soon learn that nintendo really do know what theyre doin.
