Scoring My E3 Expo 2007 Predictions

Back on July 5th I made a number of pie in the sky predictions about the E3 trade show this year and here are the results of those predictions.

Nintendo Wii

Right - * Mario Kart Wii - shown
Right - * Super Mario Galaxy - shown
Wrong (they did not commit to having enough for Christman 07) - * Nintendo pledges to ramp up Wii production to meet consumer demand
Right - * Lots and lots of new games in development for Wii since they are selling out all over the globe
Wrong - * Announces a software update to let you run software directly off the SD-Cards for larger games on Wii VC and Wii Ware
Wrong - * First games for Wii Ware - shown

Nintendo DS

Wrong - * New DS colors - shown
Right (Note : I messed up and originally listed this as Wrong. Actually the game looks awesome ) - * Zelda Phantom Hourglass will impress all
Right - * Gameboy Advance is discontinued.
Right - * Lots and lots of new DS games since they are selling like hotcakes.

Sony Playstation 3

Right - * $50-100 Price cut for PS3, they will act like it is a huge thing but the consumers will fail to notice.
Right - * Will claim victory over HD-DVD but it is way too soon for the average consumer to care.
Right - * Might actually show Metal Gear Solid 4 gameplay footage
Right - * Sony will make a big deal about Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death problems
Sorta (It was shown behind closed doors and Sony did not make a big deal about it at the keynote)- * GTA IV - shown

PSP

Right - * Lots of good games shown for the PSP
Wrong - * PSP voice chat headset via the USB port
Wrong - * Sony pledges more online playable PSP games.
Wrong - * Nothing about the rumored re-designed PSP but they will start to sell the Pink PSP in the US (you know.. for girls)

Playstation 2

Right - Lots of good PS2 games still being developed since there is still a huge installed user base.

Microsoft Xbox 360

Right - * Halo 3 - playable
Sorta (It was shown behind closed doors and No work about the HD being required)- * GTA IV – shown and a hard drive will be required
Sorta (It was shown behind closed doors) - * Halo Wars - shown
Right - * Fable 2 - shown
Wrong - * Gear of War 2 and 3- announced
Wrong - * Dead Rising 2 – announced
Right - * Lots of Japanese developed games shown on the 360 and PS3 for the US while the Japanese market is getting them only on the PS3.
Right - * Make a big deal about GTA IV downloadable episodic content being only on the 360.
Wrong - * Microsoft quietly changes the cost of getting a red-ringed Xbox 360 fixed to $99 and includes a free Microsoft published game with every repair.
Wrong - * Peter Moore will have a new tattoo
Right - * Microsoft tries to make a big deal about Games for Windows Live on Windows Vista
Right - * Microsoft will make a big deal about there being no good games to play on the PS3

Final Score : So that's 17 predictions that were right on, 12 that were wrong and 3 that were sort of right.
