Review : Xbox 360 Wireless Headset
On Friday I picked up a Xbox 360 Wireless headset. So far I am really impressed with it. It is a small super light headset that clips on your ear and communicates directly with the Xbox 360 through wireless networking.
It has a built in battery and comes with a USB cable so you can charge it right from the Xbox. It's gets an impressive eight hours of use before needing to be charge again so you can realistically play it all day before. The wireless reception cut out when I went downstairs to get a soda so I can't walk around the house with it on but it got perfect reception on the same floor.
Other players over Live sounds great in the ear piece and the microphone listens from your cheekbone. My friend BBQ noted that I sounded fine to him and the reception of him singing Rockband was clearer than his vocal performance. It has a power button and volume control that makes a sound so you can operate it by touch.
It comes with a large and small size rubber ear piece and I accidently snapped the large rubber ear piece when I was trying on the smaller one. The smaller one is a snug fit for my ear and I sent off an email to Xbox support asking for a replacement rubber piece. How about that. The first time I had to contact Xbox tech support was from a broken piece of rubber.
It feels good. It is heavy enough that you know that it's there but it does not feel like it is pinching your ear. It's is also a lot easier to grab and snap on rather than s
It is a little pricey at $60 but I think it's going to be worth it since I've had such a good time on Xbox Live. I would recommend it to any gamer that spends a significant amount of time on Xbox Live.

I've had this headset for some time now, and I'm pleased with it -except- when I'm online with Rock Band. I find that there is an echo effect or lag with the earpiece (I say something, then hear it back in my ear, then the other players respond) that I don't get when I have the regular headset plugged into the guitar.
Any other online game, tho...I really prefer the wireless. When I'm getting too animated while playing a game, I can't knock it off my head by catching the cord on something.

I've milled about one of these for a while now, do you know if the battery is user replaceable or if it's replaceable at all (ala can send it into MS for replacement).

I have had the wireless headset for about 5+ months, I like it a lot since I like to put down my controller when I'm in a game lobby. It is well worth the $60.
