Review : Tenchu : Wrath of Heaven for PS2

Ayame from Tenchu
Tenchu : Wrath of Heaven is the third part in the series and the first time the game is on the Playstation2.

Damn is it fine and it probably should have been on PS2 in the first place. I mean the PSOne games were fine but it really takes off with the high detail enviroments and polygon count.

I reviewed the first Tenchu game for PSOne.

In this game you play the Ninjas Rikimaru or Ayame of the Gohda Ninja clan who is hired to right the various wrongs of the land but in this game there is a third playable character who can be unlocked later on in the game.

The game is done in a 3d over the shoulder perspective that can easily switch to first person to look around corners and use weapons that help you kill guards and bad guys in really cool ways. The environments are the real stars with maze of houses, gardens, forests, and castles in Shogunate Japan and damn do they look find on the PS2 hardware

Now some would say that this is just another mission-based stealth series game but this is not a rip off of Metal Gear Solid

Laura Croft is a skank. Ayame has stolen my 3d heart.

Much like my review of the first Tenchu game.

I like the campy voice over that has a semi twisted since dark humor. All the actors sound like they were dubbed by extras in a Sonny Chiba movie. I think it is intentional and as Martha says it is a Good Thing.

The music is kick ass classical guitar and a fusion of Japanese and modern western music.

This game has over 500% the daily USDA suggested amount of Ninja action!

As long as you're not playing 2 player, it's fine. The vertical split screen in the 2 player version causes the game to become extremely limited and annoying.
