Review: Siracha Hot Chili Sauce : the Condiment of the Future

sriracha hot sauceTonight I had mundane slow cooked pork and beans for dinner that was a flavor explosion in my mouth thanks to the Siracha Hot Chili Sauce that I splashed on it.

This sort of like if Tabasco sauce and catchup had a romantic sexual tryst on the eastern shores of Thailand and this is new uber condiment is the product of that passion. If you go to a good cheap asian restaurant that actual people from Asia eat at you might see a big round red bottle of Siracha hot sauce with the green squirt cap and the rooster logo and multiple language label. That is the good stuff.

Not only does it spice up a bowl of Pho or ramen it makes hot-dogs and burgers stand up and smack you in the face with flavor and spice. Siracha Hot Chili Sauce is made from sun-ripened chili peppers, sugar, garlic and vinegar and is made in good old US of A based by Huy Fong Foods. I heard the term condiment of the future in the pages of Barracuda Magazine and this stuff will be a staple on my dinner table. It is just enough spice and it is not hot enough to screw with my acid reflex. It is not just asian cooking that is enhanced by this spicy squirtable sauce but it would greatly enhance just about any microwavable or canned food. if I had to eat canned beans for a month I would be a happy man as long as I had a big bottle of Siracha to stimulate the taste buds.

You can find this stuff in the asian food section of most decent supermarkets but you might need to look around to find it but you can order it online. This is the condiment of the future and I can't think of any meat or dish that would not be kicked up several notches with a squirt of my hot red Thai friend. This stuff should be airlifted into humanitarian crisis areas because it could make boiled grass taste good.

Ha, you just made my day. I found Siracha over a year ago while eating at this dive bar. Now my friends and I order the stuff a case at a time. Something that sounds gross but is really good is to try it on pizza. Trust me.

Here in the midwest we have a chain of restaurants called Noodles & Co. that has this stuff at every table. A welcome addition to a plain old bowl of noodles in some cases.

I discovered Pho a couple of years ago and raved about this chili sauce. My girlfriend finally had enough of my ravings and found a bottle for me last month. Mmmmmmm.

The funny thing is, I could never figure out what the official name of it was, so I just called it "Rooster Sauce". And now, practically everyone I know calls it that because they've heard me call it that. So if, in the South Central, you ever hear it referred to as "Rooster Sauce", you know where it came from.

OK...so how old are you?I'm only 13 and I've been eating this stuff(and lots of it)with Pho and other foods.Although,I am Asian,so I don't blame you.

I am 27 and there were no Pho places in my home town. It was not until I came to Seattle that I knew about this stuff.

I do speak lots of Japanese and I was an exchange student to Japan so I know my sushi.

I remember going to a soup place with my college roommate where they had this stuff. He always used to put the stuff on his food, but I never really tried it. My curiosity is now peaked, so I'll have to hunt down a bottle.

This is hilarious... 'sort of like if Tabasco sauce and catchup had a romantic sexual tryst on the eastern shores of Thailand'. That's so true.

And you know the shit is finger lickin, I just got to Ireland and introduced the goods to my new friends. They are hooked. Unfortunately you can't find it in the UK so I'm having it sent over from the US.

This stuff is so great and I love your review of it as well. Funny all this time I've been eating in Thailand and never realized the secret of their great vermicelli salad (among others). I had to come back to New York and have a Jewish friend recommend it to me! Try this recipe!

It is amazingly good!

Great review. Yes it's tastes like an offspring of ketchup and Tabasco sauce, only way better.

I love it with pho or any other kind of noodles, and I always eat it with my eggs during breakfast. YUM!
