Review : NubyTech Limited Edition Street Fighter Controllers for Xbox

StreetFighterGuileXboxController.jpgLast weekend over in Seattle BBQ and I stopped by the game store on the way to see Clerks 2. I saw that they had NubyTech Limited Edition Street Fighter Controllers for Xbox on clearance so I got one of these bad boys for only ten bucks. Now I allready have one of these for PS2 but I when I sold my first Xbox I got rid of the PS2 to Xbox controller adapter so I can't use my PS2 controllers with my Xbox anymore. I saw that the Xbox got an Akuma controller in pure black and Guile in Xbox green. That was just too dope so I got the green Xbox Guile game pad.

Now I have the vast majority of 2d figthing games on other systems such as PS2 and Dreamcast but the Xbox does have 2d gems like SVC Chaos, Samurai Showdown V, Metal Slug 3 and some decent fighting games like Dead or Alive 2, Dead or Alive 1+2 Ultimate and even a version of the lame ass game Fight Club.

Now this is a decent fighting game pad with a perfect beefy Sega Saturn style layout but it is ergonomic and feels great. The Xbox version is thicker than the PS2 version to make room for the single Memory Card/ Xbox Live port on the bottom of the controller. You can freaking use one of these bad boys on Xbox live for Capcom Vs SNK 2 dude! I used to be seriously chemically addicted to that game on Xbox live. Also there is a rumble vibration feature in the Xbox version and it was seriously lacking in the PS2 game pad. NubyTech made a mean game pad.

I can also see this game pad being good on classic arcade collections on Xbox but I tend to have those on my PS2. It sort of is a shame that you can't use this on the Xbox 360 and if you are rocking some of the few 2d fighting games on the Xbox Uno than I seriously think it is worth it to find one of these suckers.

I don't like that controller. Doesn't feel like an authentic saturn controller, it looks like it but it just doesn't feel like it. So I stick to my Universal arcade sticks I built.

@ShotgunSteve: Umm... this controller is for the Xbox, not the Saturn. I doubt they were actually trying to make it feel just like a Saturn controller; that was just a comparison made in the review.
