Review: Magical Chase for TG-16
Magical Chase for the TG-16/ PC Engine
Magical Chase is what Japanese side scrolling shooters are all about. This is a groovy game that NEC America shot them selves in the foot by keeping it in Japan. You may think that this looks like a cross between Hello Kitty and Harry Potter but it is so much more than that.

The graphics are detailed and stand up the test of time compared to your typical GameBoy Advance game of today. The design of the enemies is a bit kooky and surreal but it so goes with the game. The music is a little too happy but this fits the game is a little too happy.
The first thing you will be asked in the game is do you want to do the easy version that is only 3 levels or the normal and hard ones that will be the full game so if you pick easy and thing you were shafted you didn’t actually play the whole game. This game reminds me of Paradious and Twin Bee both by Konami. Again I would love to see this game revived on the GBA. And Konami we need more Paradious too. Like that groovy Sega Saturn game that only BBQ has. We need that on PS2. Word! I think this game got a Game Boy version but I am not sure
If you are looking for a happy fun shooter with good game play this is a ROM that will not disappoint. This game has no real innovation but it doesn’t skimp on the quality of the game delivered.
7 out of 10.

It may be a Cotton "bite off" but it's still cool. I think the graphics are some of the best I've seen on the PCE/TG16.
Also, I think it came out in America.

Yeah this game definitly came out in North America. I remember seeing it at my local Radio Shack back in the day.
Here's a link to Working Designs TG-16 museum which has a scan of the box of the North American version.
