If you ever see a Mad Catz Dreamcast Dreampad at a game store pick one up. It is hands down one of the best gamepad ever made regardless of platform. They are slightly wider than the standard Dreamcast game pad but they have really nice rubber grips and very nice springy analog triggers on the top. It is easy to get the VMU and Rumble packs in and out of the unit. But the real Coup de Grace is the button feature the original four but two more for the top buttons arranged in a 3 by 3 format just freaking perfect for Capcom Fighting games.
There are two different version of the unit. The first was all white with a rubber coating on the digital direction pad and 6 buttons. BBQ is partial to this one but the rubber coating is quite thin and can be accidentally rubbed off and ripped in normal game play. Then there is also a later revision of the unit with no rubber coating on the buttons and digital direction pad and bright iMac candy colors. I own green and blue version of this pad.
The first two version of the game pad were cursed with a lame ass Macro button that was in conveniently located under the six action buttons. BBQ and I would accidentally hit this damn button by accident and the pad would switch into macro programming mode in the middle of a heated Street Fighter 3 fight. So we disassembled the gamepad with a set of jewelers screwdrivers and popped out the damn button and covered the hole with a sticker. This became known as "circumsizing" the gamepad and is seriously recommended.
This is a damn fine gamepad and it takes 2d fighting games to a whole new level of fun with the improved button layout. A slightly modified version of one of these is all you need to play just about every Dreamcast game you could want.
