Review : iTrip Mini for iPod Mini
My favorite radio station does not have tons of annoying ads for beer and diet pills every other minute or have some sexist blow hard screaming in my ear. It is not NPR with their droning stuffy boredom it is FM 87.9. that is the default radio station for the iTrip Mini FM transmitter for my iPod Mini. This is a little device that snaps on the top of an iPod Mini and will transmit what you are playing to any FM stereo. It works great in cars since almost no in-dash stereo has audio input jacks. It extends the length of the iPod Mini by about half an inch and it works when you just snap it on and press play. The range is good enough for a car and in most houses but I doubt that most of my neighbors in my apartment complex could tune in tho this short range broadcast. Now that I think about it there are about half a dozen families that could listen in to the music that I am beaming to my clock radio from my iPod right now.
The sound quality is good but it is not crystal CD quality sound. It sounds like a good radio station and there can be some interference if there is a near by station in your area. Griffin Technology includes a play list of MP3s that can change the frequency that the iTrip broadcasts that is cool but I think I am going to leave it at the farthest left of the dial.
It would be cool to be able to crank up the range of the unit and make a bumper sticker telling other drivers to tune in to my personal radio station. This is one of the futures of radio folks.
They have a version for the regular iPod and there are copycat products on the market. It is not going to satisfy the audiophile that is willing to shell out thousands for the ultimate stereo but I seriously recommend one of these things if you plan on doing any driving with an iPod. I love this little thing and It shall come in very handy with long car trips.

I have one of these for my 40G iPod. I love it. I used to just use headphones in the car, but with my bad luck of getting pulled over for bullshit reasons, I figured it's enough treading on the wild side... Works great, but your right, sometimes I get in a bad area and there is some interferance, but for the most part, it's great. Must be nice to have a mini one though, mine is a bit big :/

I have one for my mini too. The sticker at the top can be removed for more range!!! Also, look at google on how to further increase range.
