Review : Grand Theft Auto III on Xbox

Recently I have been playing a new Grand Theft Auto game on Xbox but it is not the newly released GTA San Andreas but good old Grand Theft Auto 3. Last week they had a buy two used games get one free sale at my local GameStop so I took advantage of it and walked away with a free copy of GTA 3 Xbox.

It is pretty fun to play through GTA3 again and the extra graphical improvements are extra nice. The games textures are at a higher resolution and it has better lighting and reflection effects. The game loads faster and there is the option to play music tracks that you have ripped to your Xbox hard drive as a in game radio station with no DJ. When the PS2 version came out I played this game for countless hours. Luckily enough time has passed that I can play through this game again without it getting stale. This games brilliant execution and dark comedic elements make this a timeless classic, and the Xbox version is slightly graphically tighter than the original PS2 version.

I can't wait for GTA : Liberty City Stories for the PSP and until then it is quite nice to take a refresher drive around Liberty City once again. When this game first came out on Xbox it was a part of a dual pack with GTA Vice City and if you have played the PS2 version to death than there is no real rush to play the Xbox version but since I got this game for free it is quite nice to roll around Liberty City on Das Xboxen.
