This weekend I tried the Fuji Photo printer service at my local Fred Meyers store. It was very cool.
I just brought the SD multimedia memory card from my digital camera in and stuck it into a multi card reader on the PC kiosk. I then used their touch-screen wizard based interfaced custom printing application to pick what JPEGs I wanted printed and what size I wanted them. The cool thing is that any JPEG on the card can be printed so you can alter an image in an image editor and then re-load it on the card for printing. I am thinking about doing my holiday cards with this system.
Now this is being printed on the same machine that they use to print and develop film. There was a bit of a delay because they were developing and printing several rolls of film but I came back after my shopping when they were just getting to my print job. The process of printing my photos took about five minutes. If there is no one ahead of you it is entirely possible to get high quality photo prints that rival 35 MM film in about six minutes
The quality of the print was wonderful and the colors were vibrant and the glossy photo stock looked perfect. They are only charging 33 cents per picture and I walked away with six pictures for under two bucks.
The entire process was very cool and I will use it again in the immediate future. I have no plan to get a color printer when I can just use this system for printing high quality digital photos.

It sounds like this is the same service as the one at Fred Meyer. It really is convenient. What they should do is use a webservice so that you could send the pics via the internet and by the time you get to the store you could pick up your pictures. Of course it would be even better if you could set up a secure account on a local level.
I know there are profesional print shops that take internet based file submissions but I think that this works out fine since you have to go there and get your prints and hand over the money.
Yeah it is the Fred Meyer electronic department in Bremerton.
Did you just change your post to reflect that or am i retarded? Wait, don't answer that!
I did not change the post.
I told you not to answer that.
In that picture you are inadvertantly flipping off everyone to your immediate right.
Also, try not to look so EXCITED!
Yay. seems like the way to go. no more owning expensive shit that dusts away in yr. "office" (read: only room).
Love the "avatar" icon. Hero icon? Persona? Is there a better (less new-agey) word for avatar?
I think "Icon" works for me
