I was really worried about this game turning out to be a disappointment. Ever since i first saw the three Evil Dead movies I fell in love with the violence, dark campy humor, brilliant camera work and editing, monster special effects and the sheer violent fun of Evil Dead. I would not care if the top actors in Hollywood wanted to hand out with me because I would much rather hang with the king of B movie actors ( don't call him Ash ) Bruce Campbell.
A couple years a go a company got the rights to make an Evil Dead game so they tried to make a Resident Evil like game called Evil Dead : Hail ho the King. The phrase "let down" comes no where near the pain that was Evil Dead : Hail to the King.
But Alas Bruce Campbell was not happy with it so he was open to taking up the role of Ash again in a new game.
When I heard that the same developers who made State of Emergency were going to make the game I started to get worried.
When I found out that they dropped the price down to twenty bucks new I got even more worried that this game was going to suck.
Guess what?
IT DOES NOT SUCK
Man is it fun. It is a really good action game with trade mark Evil Dead ultra violence. The experience of making State of Emergency provided a lot of animation control and crowed AI and camera control. The action is pretty fun and simple and it is total Bruce Campbell goodness. There is plenty of good dialog and there is more than 500% the USDA recommended amount of Bruce Campbell.
The deadites are plentiful and well animated. When the dead things come in contact with the chainsaw on Ash's arm they get chopped up into chunks loosing limbs in a big spray of 3d particle blood. You can cut a deadite in half and it will still come after you crawling. The screen get full of dead things going after Ash and the only phrase I can say about the levels is Grand Theft Ash. The camera is really cool, how you can target bad guys behind you and shoot them over your shoulder with the boom stick.
This is actually a very good action game with well designed levels and a well written but twisted black comedic plot. I would have probably have gotten this for fifty bucks since I love the Evil Dead movies so much but pricing it at 20 bucks is a very nice treat. It is not going to get any awards for innovative game play that advances. If you have a PS2 with an Andrew Jackson in your pocket I would go pick this fun, campy ultra violent game.

I jsut picked this up, believe it or not, used for $16 at EB. Haven't yet popped it out yet however.
Playing rental of WarioWorld. What fun! Jumping, running and punching. What more does a game need. Sarcastic, mumbled comments ala the old Popeye cartoons? Got it!
I bought the game today after hearing bad reviews about the last one i thought stuff this i wanna give the new game ago , i bought it for $28 (australian) and i love it its a really fun game, the angles of the camera arent as free movin as enter the matrix but still alright.. good fun all round

if your are an evil dead fan this game is a must have.The story is well written and the game play is just plain fun... what could be better than slashing deadites to bits with ash's chain saw..
this game is pretty cool the bloody graphics are really cool it kinda pissed me off in the begging of the game because I could'nt get past nathaniel payne but i figured it out . the camera views kick ass and all but they could still be better

I really like this game and am a great fan of the movies. The blood and gore are GREAT as well as all the wonderful Ash talk. My only real complaint is the small amount of health that drops and medkits are too few. I would like to have the comfort of going into the boss fight with at least half my life, just once :)
i loved this game from the moment i played it,awsome story line and Ashs punch lines were pretty funny,not to mention the cool weapons
