Ah, but some of the truly great games were released pre-dual shock. Resident Evil and RE2 and FFVII being three of MY all-time favorites. Dual Shock not necessary.

Well it was just an expression. The upgrade from the normal controller to the DualShock was really well done and the DualShock was not required for a very long time. A good PS game will work with a digital controller but enhanced to work with the DualShock.

I guess my cynical sense of humor is lost on you ;) But I absolutely agree that Playstation has always been good at the backwards compatability, and this includes when the 'upgraded' to the DualShock controller.

I don't own a dual shock - I brought a broken one (with 2 controllers and memory card), got the motor replaced, chipped it then fun was had by all.

I just can't find the "classic" DS controller anywhere - there's something about the PSOne controller that I don't like.

But I tend to buy a lot of memory cards - pretty colours.

Maaaan that is WACK. It should be HALO appreciation week, dawg!

My DS broke. The analog no longer works. Well it's still good for fighters and other games that only use the digital pad. The rumble doesn't work any more either. Oh well they're pretty cheap now anyways.

I'm currently playing The Italian Job on my PS1 and I'm going to go buy some games at a PS1 sale at my local Target soon.

Those pictures are very disturbing. Heh.

Gavin they have new ones in five fruity fun colors for twenty bucks. If I were you I would avoid getting a used controller due the the wear and abuse that the analog sticks can go through.

My favorite game pad on the PSOne is the Mad Catz MicroCon. They are smaller than the official pads and I really like the design and feel of it. Plus it gots the ruberized grips.

I have never seen a PSOne MicroCon, but I do have the MicroCon for my PS2, XBOX and GameCube and I love them! So, I second Jake on that call.

There is no MicroCon made just for the PSOne but the PS2 unit works perfectly on the PSOne. Sony was on the ball when they made the controllers compatible.

I Also have one for my Xbox and Gamecube

Close but no cigar.

The first image is just a Sony External PC CD-Rom of the day and the next image is from 1993 when Nintendo was working with Phillips CD-i.

I have never seen an image of the Sony/Nintendo "Play Station" and I don't think they made a final design. The prototypes were probably not nice to look at.
