Right before the one and only Xbox Live Major Nelson took the stage at the Xbox booth to show off the new Xbox experience as a part of the new Dashboard he held aloft one of the new bright green wireless Xbox controllers to match the greenish tint of his shirt.
Now this is one of the new fangled Xbox 360 controller that supposedly has a drastically improved D-pad. Since BBQ and I were sitting in front of the front row we asked if we could hold it for a sec and try it out. The Major handed it over to us and we got a few seconds of hands on time. It seems like the D-Pad is raised a bit more but still offered the same amount of resistance. We could not tell if it was a radically new improvement since we were not playing a game with it. I can’t really tell if it is worth an upgrade until I try out some Street Fighter II , Castlevania Symphony of the Night or Ikaruga with it. It is a little too early to tell if I can finally ditch my MadCatz made wired controller and if this is going to cut it for hard core 2d gaming.
I am cautiously optimistic but will need to get some hand one time before I give it a thumbs up. It is really green and almost gives you a lime taste in your mouth just by holding it!
