One of the cooler unique games that I saw at PAX was Mushroom Men for the Wii. It had a pretty funky creative Indie vibe to it and was really shaping up to be a very special game.
The Earth was sprayed with a radiation from space that was ignored by human kind but it turned all the mushrooms into super psychic bipedal creatures and then a civil war broke out between the factions of the tiny three inch tall mushroom men.
It features a darker gothic retro inspired design reminiscent of Psychonauts. The levels are huge and from the perspective of your mushroom man and are full of swinging and jumping action platforming and mind bending puzzles that require using your psychic powers to interact with the simulated real world physics of the game.
I had a chance to speak with one of the directors of the game from Red Fly Studio. They were pretty cool.
Oh yeah and it has music by Les Claypool of Primus.
I when first learning about the Wii I hoped that there was going to be some cool weird game made for it. This might be one of those. It looks completely different than all the typical happy go lucky Wii titles out on the game store and looks like a extremely interesting and promising game.
