Oh yeah I need a Superdrive
Another reason why I crave iBook is to rip and burn DVDs to my hearts content. I have previously thought how cool it would be to manipulate DVD video as easily as ripping MP3s from a CD. It looks like there is some mighty fine DVD ripping and burning tools available on the Mac now days. I could see myself getting a set top DVD recorder to digitize TV shows like a PVR and then use the ripping tools with iDVD to have my own digital video Lollapalooza.
I confirmed that I will have no problem accessing my Windows USB hard drive on the iBook and I could network my PC notebook to the iBook using my Ethernet router. It is the software out for it that really make me take a second look at Apple.

Go for it man. I've had a Superdrive-equiped G4 for three years, and it rocks. iLife is great (and keeps getting better), and there are lots of freeware DVD tools out there as well.

If you figure out how to rip and burn fluidly, let me know. I've had a hell of a time using OS X to rip and burn DVDs.
