Cell phone maker Nokia announced a gaming platform to rival the Gameboy Advance's monopoly on portable gaming. It is a custom cell phone made for gaming called the N-Gage and it is designed to play super popular Japanese cell phone Java based games that have gotten popular as of late. Asian gamers have purchased cell phones for the sole purpose of playing wireless games so it really makes sense to combine a cell phone with a Gameboy like device. This thing doesn't look cheap but is is Bluetooth networking enabled so you can play other users with in 10 feet of each other with out having to use the phone network or a cable. Also there is no cartriages on it you buy a game and download it to a smart card on the phone and it uses the Symbion OS so it will probably be email and web enabled! Sweet!
I am guessing this thing will probably be around 150 bucks or so but if it is half as cool as they are talking about it would be generations past the GBA. This thing has wireless network gaming out of the box and Sega has pledged support for this. So we will probably see some Sonic and Puyo-Puyo games for it. I have never thought about getting a cell phone before but this thing would be the first.
N-Gage.. I get it.. it is pronounced Engage

No cell phone will ever get me to buy it video games or not....but....frickin neato idea! I cant believe that this thing can be under a couple of hundred dollars at least. I will say this though, if i were to buy a cell phone....and that is a big "if" I suppose that now i would have to buy this one. Just because it is a cool gadget....like no other.
Well it all comes down to the games in the end
Do you no when the nokia n gage is releasing in the uk, And do u no how much the actual console is going to cost
I am guessing fall of 2003 like the US. So October to Christmas.
Nokia has not said how much it will be or showed any of the games in detail.
There was a good article on it over at gamesindustry.biz

The product will be officially unveiled at the next E3 expo. So expect more info May 14th.
Also this is not text messaging so please type out the fill words. OK BRB LOL IMHO RTFM
I am guessing around $200 or 200 Euros based on the equivalent powered PDA and cell phones. That would put it at twice the price as Nintendo but it is powerful and it is going to be more costly for the hardware.
this device is the incredible machine to its capacity of games and this can now lead us to a better gaming and maybe even better cellphone wise
this fucken sucks
It is too bad that no one is going to buy it at $300 and the announcement of the Playstation Portable and the Gameboy Next took all the hype out of it at e3. I think that the Nokia N-Gage is going to be the next Atari Lynx
