I Just ordered my new Mac Mini. I am pretty certain that they will not be announcing an updated Mac Mini at the notebook heavy "Apple Brick" press event on Tuesday the 14th. Also the equivalent size Windows PCs use the same CPUs so there is no processor gap and it is going to be a heck of an upgrade from what I've been using.
I ordered:
Mac mini, 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
160GB Serial ATA drive
2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
Ships: 1 - 3 business days
Delivers: Oct 16 - Oct 20
My birthday is on the 16th and I am asking for a new Monitor. I want a big 24 inch widescreen Samsung or ViewSonic one.
I am going to install Windows on it via Boot Camp and need to decide between choosing XP and Vista. I am leaning towards XP.
My old Mac iBook was dead as a doornail so I gave it to a co-worker so he could salvage it for parts. My old Windows Laptop is probably going to be kept around for when I have to go on the road. I've had laptops for the past couple years and I am going back to a desktop system.

Defiantly go with xp, vista is just a prettier version of xp filled with to many unused services.
Go for XP with two gigs of RAM. I've found Vista works best at four gigs (just doing some light web browsing now and I'm extremely close to hitting two gigs).
I'd suggest checking out LG's monitor offerings as well. Viewsonics and Samsungs are great monitors, too, no doubt. But I've had my LG for a little over a year now and it's still stunningly beautiful. 20.1" widescreen was a bit over $200 at Fry's ~13 months ago.
I am thinking about getting a Samsung Touch of Red series 22 or 24in monitor
