My E3 Expo 2007 Predictions
Here are my predictions for this years upcoming mini-E3 show. These are completely unsubstantiated but I would consider them educated guesses. But we will find out how accurate these guesses are next Wednesday.
Nintendo Wii
- Mario Kart Wii - shown
- Super Mario Galaxy - shown
- Nintendo pledges to ramp up Wii production to meet consumer demand
- Lots and lots of new games in development for Wii since they are selling out all over the globe
- Announces a software update to let you run software directly off the SD-Cards for larger games on Wii VC and Wii Ware
- First games for Wii Ware - shown
Nintendo DS
- New DS colors - shown
- Zelda Phantom Hourglass will impress all
- Gameboy Advance is discontinued.
- Lots and lots of new DS games since they are selling like hotcakes.
Sony Playstation 3
- $50-100 Price cut for PS3, they will act like it is a huge thing but the consumers will fail to notice.
- Will claim victory over HD-DVD but it is way too soon for the average consumer to care.
- Might actually show Metal Gear Solid 4 gameplay footage
- Sony will make a big deal about Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death problems
- GTA IV - shown
PSP
- Lots of good games shown for the PSP
- PSP voice chat headset via the USB port
- Sony pledges more online playable PSP games.
- Nothing about the rumored re-designed PSP but they will start to sell the Pink PSP in the US (you know.. for girls)
Playstation 2
Lots of good PS2 games still being developed since there is still a huge installed user base.
Microsoft Xbox 360
- Halo 3 - playable
- GTA IV – shown and a hard drive will be required
- Halo Wars - shown
- Fable 2 - shown
- Gear of War 2 and 3- announced
- Dead Rising 2 – announced
- Lots of Japanese developed games shown on the 360 and PS3 for the US while the Japanese market is getting them only on the PS3.
- Make a big deal about GTA IV downloadable episodic content being only on the 360.
- Microsoft quietly changes the cost of getting a red-ringed Xbox 360 fixed to $99 and includes a free Microsoft published game with every repair. Update: I wrote this before they announced that they were extending the warranty of all Xbox 360s to three years
- Peter Moore will have a new tattoo
- Microsoft tries to make a big deal about Games for Windows Live on Windows Vista
- Microsoft will make a big deal about there being no good games to play on the PS3
