Movable Type Forever

Six Apart updated the personal use pricing plan for Movable Type 3.0 and I am happy with it. I am glad that they listened to their customers. Somecompanies would have just not cared.

My only complaint was three authors was not enough for a personal site but they extended it to five authors. So I will be upgrading when It goes gold. It sounds like there is not enough documentation on how to upgrade your templates to the new version so I am waiting for more documentation.

It is very good that they revised their pricing plan and it must have been nightmarish for them to handle this without a PR specialist. Ben and Mena gave a great interview here.

I just signed up to my TypeKey account and over all it was a very logical and easy process. I still think it will be good to switch this site over to Level 3 : Accept TypeKey-authenticated and moderated comments.

If a person has signed up for an authenticated TypeKey account they can post comment to their hearts content and it will enable me to have options since it will be on a robust authenticated system. However for those who are not interested in signing up for an authenticated ID system they can post comments but they will not show up live until I will have had a chance to check them out and make sure they are not posting Spam or being a super bastard. Also that way if the system ever goes down people can still post comments that will be manually reviewed.

Below on the page you mentioned your "open-source hyping mouth." So why aren't you running WordPress? ;)

I am going to hate the TypeKey thing. But it will help the comment spam problem somewhat, I guess. I am just tired of having to make new accounts everywhere.

Wordpress doesn't support multiple blogs yet, you ca n simulate it by creating multiple directories and installing it multiple times.

B2Evolution seem to be comparable to MT in my eyes.

The thing about TypeKey Nemo is that you only have to make one log on and it is good at every MT 3.0 and Typepad powered site.

Whoopie. I still can't afford it, though.

I'm sticking with MT and I'll be making use of TypeKey (I already have an account with it since I have a TypePad plan with SixApart) too. :)

While it's great that you'll be using moderated comments, I will probably stop commenting at any public blogs that use TypeKey. I'm pretty much against any account-based commenting system. Look what it's done to the LiveJournal community. Who wants to post "anonymously"? The LJ people really only communicate with other LJ people, and are segmented from the rest of the blogging community. I fear that TypeKey sites will segment the community even more.

Well non-typekey comments will still be put up every night after I get a chance to review them. Typekey verified comments will be posted instantly. I do not want to have 100% Typekey comments and don't think that Typekey will be anything like LJ comment system.

Kiwi I think they might start student pricing.
