Moby Hates DRM

Moby at the PentagonHe just said so on his blog.

just fyi,

if i release a cd and it has copy-protection on it, it's not by my choice.
copy-protection annoys the shit out of me, cos it prevents me from putting my own cd's into i-tunes.

just thought i'd let you know.

moby

Copy-protected CDs do not prevent piracy and only piss off music customers like you and me.

He has said many interesting things in the past. I would read his blog even if I did not like his music... but I do.

It is hard for me to even buy non copy protected cd's scince I hate the riaa so bad, but it is not the artists that I hate, if they sold cd's directly then I would buy them in the quantities I used to before the riaa started fing around with it.

I've never bought a CD with copy protection, but then, I rarely buy CDs anyway.

If you've got a choice between buying a locked CD or the same songs off iTunes for $5 less, there's really no question which one makes more sense.

...assuming you use iTunes, of course.

I think that "copy protected" CDs should be plainly labeled by law so that consumers can know about them ahead of time and avoid them.

I deffinatly agree with you... although your statement leads me to believe that you have some personal experience with these.
