Mobile Blogging Thoughts

Mobile blogging is a really neat concept. They are now putting mini digital camera into just about every Portable devices these days and I think it is a very good trend. However the place I work at has some pretty strict rules about informational security and all camera are banned and you could get fired for having one. PDAs and Cell phone with cameras are especially warned against because you can discreetly take pictures and save or transmit them to an external location. Some of the SD cards are now smaller than chemical film and they can store huge amounts of pictures.

I read that Samsung recently banned camera phones from their offices and factories despite the ironic fact that they are a major manufacturer of camera phones.

I think it would be cool to have a wireless notebook or PDA and do the Blogathon walking around a city taking pictures of the people and places as you go. My notebook is a bit to big and the WiFi connection points are too scarce to pull that off right now but I am sure that some blogger in New York, San Fransisco or Tokyo could surely pull it off.

Joi Ito has to have the coolest mobile blog out there and I am jealous off all the Gaijin living in Japan by default.

There was a big deal about a next generation PDA made by Sony that featured some high powered new Sony chips, a digital camera and lots of wireless connectivity options. This sucker is $700 right now but I bet you that with in two years the same level of power will get down to under $200.
