Reason number 127 I am glad I own a Nintendo Gamecube : Link in Soul Calibur 2 for the GC!
I can't wait for August 26 for the US release for Soul Calibur 2 on home systems. It is a real pisser that the game is done and now out in Japan but for some reason we must wait a couple months when they could be shipping it now and there are going to be no major changes between the US and Japanese versions.
The first game is so good that I suggest people go buy a used Sega Dreamcast and get a copy of it until then. Soul Calibur came out in 1999 and it still holds up to all the newer 3d fighting games. In fact it is about the only 3d fighting game that BBQ will play with me. The guy is pickier than a hungry three year old in an expensive French bistro
The Gamecube version will be the closest to the arcade given the Namco/Sega/Nintendo Triforce Arcade system that was used in the arcade is basically the guts of a Gamecube. So the Xbox and PS2 versions might be good but they will still be ports of the Gamecube/Arcade master version.
They have this game at my local arcade and the lines are quite long to play and for good reason. For the people who are skeptical to how the Nintendo Gamecube Controllor can handle a good fighting game I would refer them to the PS to Gamecube controller adaptors on the market and show them that they can use their precious DualShock pads if they are so inclined.
But why will the GameCube version be the best. One reason baby LINK for Legend of Zelda! It is the grown up sexy link and not the little kid version from the Windwaker.
I am going out on a limb but I am predicting that the Gamecube version will out sell the Xbox and PS2 versions despite the market penetration of the PS2. But Screw Heihachi on the PS2 and Spawn on the Xbox versions this is Link we are talking about!

Hmm, Godzilla, Smackdown, Toshinden, Street Fighter EX, Bust a Groove...I like all those. I think what I don't like is having to learn a whole new control system. Especially when you kill me with a 48-hit combo before I've even learned what all the buttons do. Kinda like when you start to play a new game demo and are annihilated before you've even taken two steps. But Capcom 2D fighters are the best, they add enough new stuff to keep it interesting, but the controls are always good and easy to pick up. I only wish the "Difficulty" option actually served some purpose. Anyway, Soul Calibur 2 will be doper than Xbox. Just look at how much green Link is wearing! It's HELLA bomb, G Dawg Money.
Holy crap, that rules!
I'm out of the loop as far as video games go, but I recently found 8 BIt and am loving it!
And I agree about the original SC. I haven't played that in forever. I used to have Cerevantes (I think that's how you spell it) DOWN. I need to break that out tonight. All I've been playing lately is Tennis 2K2, trying to get to #1 in the World Tour mode.
Did you not read last months GI? I was ranting about the fact that each system was going to have a different unlockable character! Personally, I think it's a bunch of crap. That's way too much pressure trying to decide which system I want it for. Which means, I will more than likely get it for all three. Hmph! Although, I think I am leaning more in the direction of Spawn.
Yah I knew about it last month but I am just lamenting that it is out in Japan Now but not here in the US until forking 8/26
I just want to know one thing: Why is Link sporting a cameltoe in that picture? I'm going to have nightmares now, as my innocence has been brutally ripped from me by a careless texture artist.
Dear god Mike. I think it is just a wierd texture map or it is a wierd elf sex thing. Atleast he is wearing pants in this game.
Yeah, well. The game isn't really all that popular here, and uh...yeah. It's unfortunate, because the game really is a masterpiece. There is no accounting for some gamers taste.
Yeah, well...there's just one thing I have issue with here, and it's this. I don't think the game was done on the Triforce hardware, given the fact that it was released well before the hardware was ever finalized...so uh...yeah.
Well the Namco, Nintendo and Sega press releases said it is done on the Tri Force Hardware that is basically a Nintendo Gamecube in an arcade case. Just like there was an arcade version of the Saturn, PSOne, Dreamcast, and PS2 Namco System 11 and 22. Perhaps it was done on an early version but the Gamecube architecture was quite done. All the gamers I have met love Soul Caliber. I think that if they started selling Soul Calibur 2 tomorrow it would fly off the shelves.
Damn That is Clean as hell go link
how can i get link???
I don't know Chris the game is not out in the US yet. However you can get a FAQ on the Japanese version of the game at ( http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/game/12787.html )
He is probably unlocked by beating the game several times using different players.
