Let's hear it for the Real Liberal Media

Radio Still SucksI am a big fan of Air America radio. They are building their radio network and they are a fascinating alternative to the corporate owned right wing talk radio networks. If you believe the myth of the liberal media you should check out Air America and Air America Place and see what real liberal media looks like. They are not trying to be just like the right wing media but there is a huge media opportunity in the 51% of America who voted for Gore in 2000. It is a very mentally refreshing supplement to the corporate owned media networks

Their use of the internet is a key tool in building their network. Each show has a blog such as Al Frankin Show.com and The Majority Report that is published by the show's creators and it contains links, downloads and more information from what is discussed in the show. Not to mention but you can post comments and continue the discussion that started on the show. They stream the main New York radio station over the internet and you can listen in via Real player or a Real player alternative in the places where they are not on yet.

Then there is Air America Place.com with archived shows on mp3 that can be downloaded for free. I don't think that they are connected with the radio network but the network knows about them and is OK with them doing it. This accessible to any one with a net connection. This is great in work places like mine where they discourage streaming over networks. Since it is downloaded MP3 it sounds the same on dial-up as it does on broadband. They only downside is that it takes 45 minutes to download a show over a modem and several seconds on high speed. But then you can pause it and skip around.

This is the future of radio and I have to give them props for naming their radio network on a CIA project in the 60s.

I find THIS hilarious...
http://www.8bitjoystick.com/archives/jake_i_hate_political_blogs.php#000612

You have become what you hate! Ha!

QUOTE::::

"Ether they love Rush Limbaugh or Ralph Nader the sad sick minds who create Political Blogs are not looking to enlighten the world despite what they say they intend but instead they piss in the living web their own twisted bitter view of the world.

They are either wanna-be Mummia Abdul Jamal or Pat Buchanan clones.

They either seem to link and get their own "Info" from either News Max or Yellow Times with stupid reactionary commentarty attached about how the world is going to hell in a hand basket and it is all Bush/Clinton's fault!

I need another damn cup of coffee and an aspirin"

You wrote this "piece" before there was a "liberal" radio, now you are a huge fan and are writing about how great Al Franken and Garofalo are.

Meanwhile, while you are shamelessly misspelling everything in that post you are confirming everything in this post that you previously "hated".
I have to point out that air America is easily as stupid and partisan as Rush Limbaugh and you need a reality check.
It is as I said before, you have become what you most despise. Good luck Wildstar. and a hearty laugh was had by all.

I have to disagree Jake, Air America is funded by some notable corporations, which makes them far from liberal and most likely right-wing.

"One who fights with monsters should look to it that he does not become a monster."

That's a quote from Ravenous!

Seattle Weekly runs a lot of anti-Bush comics and editorials, and a lot of their profits go right into Bush's re-election campaign.

They have advertisers but they are not owned by a media monopoly like Clear Channel or News Corp.

Hey, I thought this site was about video games and nerd stuff. The politico-bush-is-a-terrorist stuff used to be over on mental ground zero.
So how about that first comment of mine jake wildstar?
I guess you really dont hate political blogs after all huh?

Posted by: Pete at August 28, 2004 12:43 PM

Actually I was writing about the media not the politics.

That's it Jake? No answer to my question?
I guess that is par for the course.
Come on wildstar...throw me a bone here.
Either you hate political blogs...or you dont.

He hates political blogs unless they are his own. It is a paradox of human existence.

I for one have decided to take a long break from partisan finger-jabbing, and finger-jabbing media. It has been making me angry and judgmental, and taking away valuable time that could be spent playing video games and training my chinchilla to do tricks.

You are either with us or against us. There is no middle ground.

Posted by: BBQ at August 30, 2004 3:01 AM

Hey, with that attitude, you could be president.

BBQ in 2012!

Posted by: Evilninja at August 30, 2004 5:04 PM

I would vote for BBQ if he ran as a third party candidate.
