In a better world I would attend The Classic Gaming Expo in Las Vegas August 9-10.
It is a massive orgy of Pac Man worship where people buy and sell old videogames. Founders of the industry and programmers of yesteryear rule the show and anyone who worked at Atari in the 70s will spend the entire weekend signing autographs.
At this year show there will be Alan Miller the cofounder of Activision and programmer of classic Atari 2600 games, Warren Davis the creator of Q-Bert, and Tim Skelly innovator behind vector graphics arcade games.
Wow vector based arcade games. I used to work at a display laser maker as laser show designer. That is why I still love vector based video games. I am no stranger to the Pangolin Laser Designer suite.
This is the place where "New" old games get released. I am talking about new games for classic systems like the Atari 2600. Sweet!
You know if you say the word gaming in Las Vegas people would most likely think you are taking about gambling.
God and you probably thought that it was not possible to get any more nerdish than a Star Trek Convention. Now if only Wil Wheaton could MC the next show then I could justify going.

Isn't that a picture of a Computer Space arcade machine? ...just asking, been awhile since I've seen a Computer Space, a Pong, or a Pill Pitt's Galaxy Game so I'm probably incorrect.
hehe...sounds like my kinda nerdville...
oooh! last night i downloaded "Sword of Fargoal"!!! :D it's an old Vic-20 game (that was upgraded for the C64) that me and my dad used to play back in the day...he actually beat the damn thing once!! :D woohoo!
ok, that was my spaz moment for the day...carry on...
That Pong machine is AWESOME! :D
...Very nerdy concept, though. A classic games convention... Eck.
California Extreme is July 26 and 27 in San Jose, and offers 350+ classic and rare arcade games on free play. I go every year, and it's great fun:
