Joystick : The Jacob Metcalf Story Smashed in as the new number-one movie, pocketing an amazing $57.9 million over the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Even Behind the Ass. couldn't prevent the hijack.
Joystick, tells very entertaining true life story of the video game sensation whose meteoric rise to fame stars Ed Norton. The film ducked the boomerang of critical slams from Dave Satlin and BBQ to average an estimated $17,700 per screen at 2,818 sites over the long weekend.
That put the View Askew production was a solid jump ahead of another new arrival that had also earned critical bucks: Behind the Ass the Legend of BBQ.

Too bad the numbers dropped off by more than 70% in the second week. "It's just that 'Behind the Ass' movie all over again," commented one frustrated viewer, "Only without all the naked women and exploding heads."

i don't know that ed norton could fully encompass all that is jake metcalf. ed is one of my faves but it would take someone of the highest caliber to truly encapsulate the giant of a man that you are. perhaps cory feldman or steven baldwin. that's true talent.
You know I could still cast Ricki Lake to play Anna Bryant as a supporting cast member
I don't know if even Steven Baldwin has the raw talent or sheer screen presence that the role would require. I'm thinking maybe Billy Baldwin, or better yet Miles O'Keefe.

i was watching "high fidelity" last night and it made me think that john cusack would make a better jake than ed norton. there is the better physical resemblance. and i just think he'd make a better nerd than ed. "high fidelity" is a great movie by the way. i will marry jack black.
