Japanese Weekly Videogame Hardware Sales 04/03/2003

Japanese videogame trend and data tracker Media Create has released their weekly report on new Japanese market video game hardware sales for last week.

This is not installed base but the number of new hardware systems sold last week in Japan It is a snapshot of where the interest is. Things don't look good for Xbox since this is after Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball was supposed to save the Xbox in Japan ( Japanese Cat poop burritos ). However it looks like it is a nice time to be publishing Gameboy Advance games in Japan.

Game Boy Advance SP: 117,600 (571,700)
Playstation 2: 56,900 (935,500)
Game Boy Advance: 22,900 (733,200)
GameCube: 22,900 (214,100)
Wonder Swan Crystal: 1,390 (17,600)
Xbox: 1,300 (47,400)
PSOne: 1,200 (31,300)
Game Boy Color: 410 (9,400)
Wonder Swan Color: 340 (9,900)

It's always been a nice time to publish GBA games in Japan. I might take my brother GBA (which he wants to sell - whats a good offering price?) into tech since several students also have them,

Speaking of which, I wrote a article about handhelds back in 2001 - it was rejected because the editor didn't understood a word I wrote.
