Holiday Revolutions 2003

Scrooge McDuckI will buy ten family members and friends Christmas presents at an budget of $20 a piece. This way I can get by the holiday without going into massive holiday debt. I did something like this last year and it worked out quite well. Expect lots of books and CDs.

I will not shop at Wal-Mart.

I will try to make figgy pudding.

I will realize that Kiwi considers Christmas a "summer holiday".

I will go see The Lord of The Rings : Return of The King several times.

If some bell ringer wishes me a Merry Christmas I will wish them a Happy Chanukah just to screw with their heads.

I will not buy anyone gift certificates.

I will make Howard Dean's Vermont Country Baked Ham for Christmas dinner.

I will buy used video games for some gifts.

I will not watch any sports. I never do and this will be no exception.

I will not give burned CDs and MP3s as gifts.

I will actually have a significant other to kiss on midnight on New Years. I actually do have a woman that I have been dating but not really talking about yet on my blog.

Christmas Story a shitty movieI will NOT WATCH A CHRISTMAS STORY. I HATE THAT FREAKING MOVIE!

I will give my Gamegear, PSOne and several toys and presents to Toys For Tots like last year.

I will not beat my relatives over their head about my support of Howard Dean. But I guess that is working towards Peace on earth and good will towards mankind..

I will not get sick off luke-warm eggnog.

I will try not to get offended when my mom fill my Christmas stockings with personal hygiene products and socks.

Whoa, sentence error detected.

I dunno. I promised I would not give MP3s this year.

I will roll my eyes at dancing Santas.
I will be mortified by singing trees.
I will be driven mad by incessant Christmas carols every damn where I go.
I will cower in fear as Mike Meyers violently rapes my childhood memories of Dr. Seuss books.
I will resist the urge to run down the morbidly obese parents with their hordes of shrieking children who walk right out in front of my car, because they're SHOPPING and can't be bothered to exercise caution around moving vehicles.

But it will all be made worthwhile by the glorious orgy of consumption that is Free Stuff Day. Because that is how these things Work.

That is a good way to do christmass. But the one problem i have is that 20 bucks does not actually get you much and if you just return it then you normally just get store credit which is pretty well worthless but inevitably have to stand in line for 3 hours. My theory is: if you know what they want then get that for them, but if you don't just giving them the money is ok. I am sorta bitter from last chrismass when I went to visit my relitives and got 200$ worth of 2 and 3 dollar items. Of these was an electric toothbrush... How incredibly lazy has the world gotten when they cannot even brush there own teeth without a machine assisting them. although it did not much madder since I just waited until it broke (hard to believe isn't it) and then took the motor and built a small remote controlled vehicle with it. After that chrismass experience I have decided: unless I know what they want I will just give them 20$ and yes I agree that gift cards are sadistic. "im giving you money but i am going to force you to spend it here". This coupled with my friend having 302$ worth of blockbuster gift cards has given me a cinical view of the whole "chrismas spirit".

I lazed out this Christmas and decided to give all the couples I know the SAME gift. Except they're all different, heh heh.

I understand that those books have entered into the public domain and can be edited freely but putting a happy ending to Romeo and Juliet just aint right.
