Happy Earth Day 2003!

Well today is Earth Day and it has evolved into yet another holiday that I wish were over.

The reason is that in recent years I think that this country has made a 180% turn a way from the environmental policies of previous administrations. And this is not a GOP vs DNC thing, It is a Nixon vs Bush thing. The Nixon Administration created the EPA and the Bush Administration has been gutting it by making compliance optional and limiting the EPA's power to punish businesses who pollute and violate regulations. Environmentally things were bad in the 70's but legislation was put into play and things got better. Now things are getting worse and at a hell of a pace.

My father is an chemist who studies the environmental impact of Hanford at one of the Hanford laboratories. My step-dad was a manger of a nuclear waste storage tank farm over at Hanford. My stepmom is a quality assurance manager out at Hanford. The Hanford cleanup is going as plan and things are getting better with out the US deals with it's nuclear waste.

But it is a damn good time if you are a owner of a company that thrives on pollution or work in an industry that is heavily dependant on fossil fuels. So I calibrated Earth day by filling up my gas tank in my 1991 Ford Taurus that gets worse gas milage than my old car a 1980 Honda Civic. I wish I could take the bus to work but there are no busses going to where I work at. I long for the days that I lived in Seattle and were car free and just got around on the busses and my bicycle. So not international greenhouse gas treaties are a thing of the past and Americans are using up gasoline in a orgy worthy of Caligula. Hopefully future generations will get it right once this generation is dead.

Humm only $19,550 for a hybrid Honda.

So there, Happy Earth Day.

Invercargill has a free bus service that proves quite popular. There's also a bus for the SIT students, but I can't use them because of the spontanious times my classes start at end (earliest start is 10am and my latest class ends at 6pm two times a week).

When I get my MP3 player, I might start walking to classes - I can walk through the city park and do the environment and myself good.

Bush proposed $1.2 billion in research funding so that America can lead the world in developing clean, hydrogen-powered automobiles. This is "HOT AIR" is what the democrats will say because they are just as fake as Bush is on the "environment" issue. I cannot believe that in this day and age anyone would buy the argument that the environmental issues put forth by POLITICIANS is somehow an issue. It is not an issue and it never HAS been. Lets extrapolate the issue...Bush hates the environment and Nixon was an environmentalist?
This is not an argument in policy between Nixon and Bush. This is political grandstanding. NO president has a clean record on the environment. The environment issue is really just a sham issue anyway. I call issues like this "polarizers" (they are not on a constitutional basis)they are meant to put people into corners of opposition. Meant to make people debate on something that doesnt exist....(the ozone hole, global flooding soon!) To say that the country is somehow in dire need of new legislation on the environment is a side issue to distract you from the true meaning of politics which is this....
"the object of oratory is not truth....but persuasion" (confucious).
Anyway...anyone who thinks that the country is slipping into an environmental oblivion should know these facts...(1)the EPA is now bigger and more well funded than it was during the Clinton Administration or any other administration in history. It is the largest and most well funded EPA in history and this is the LARGEST GOVT in the history of our country. The United States has the worlds most stringent environmental standards (with the exception of Japan) This cannot be disputed. If you go to leftist websites such as this one...

You need not look beyond your own political bent to discover that this and almost all DOT ORG sites are anti bush. Everything DOT ORG is anti-Bush. I mean a name like alternet? Gimme a break...yeah dudes i am "alternative" too but i can see the difference between this stupid earth day lefty bunk and real environmental policy which has always been about FUNDING your campaign. Can someone name me an administration that has no corporate industrial funding? anyone? Please. This is really just about politics which is always based in the HalF-Truth. It is Fair and BALANCED...heh...If you read Salon.com (leftist)......please read the Wall Street Journal(right-ist)... you guys. The sky is not falling. It has always been falling according to politicians and the original drafters of earth day who said we would all be dying of starvation and world "cooling" would lead to the next ice age! please read this link....

All research may not lead to truth...but it sure is interesting. Remember Bush hates the environment and wants to kill your kids. so he can make a buck ant drive a giant SUV which rolls over palestinians and uses them as fuel for the worldwide Jewish banking conspiracy.
(hanz Blix is a perfect person who loves everyone and wishes for world peace...not to keep his job in front of the TV cameras on CNN)
