For the love of God do not do online banking at a public Internet PC!
I am in a public cyber cafe and there is a jock college guy who is visiting this town next to me. The dumbass actually checked his bank account and registered in a hotel online on a PUBLIC internet terminal. There could be key capturing programs and all sorts of spyware that can now figure out how to get into his sugar sweet bank account.
Some people just do not get it.
I bet he wrote his PIN number on the back of his credit card.

It's disconcerting the sheer number of people who do not get it. I've actually encountered banks who didn't use firewalls.

Honestly i would not worry so much about an unencrypted link (obviously don't do it regularly) but for the most part war drivers will just try and connect, brows some porno, and then screw with the router a bit. Also i have never seen one come out during the day so you are probably fine.
