Extra Extra : DMCA Could Force Xbox Again!

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos for NeoGeo teaser artThe evil Digital Millennium Copyright Act have to force me to buy a used Xbox again when combined with the short sighted idiotic anti 2d thoughts from Sony USA.

As you may well know that I have had my eye on the NeoGeo game SNK VS. Capcom : SVC Chaos for quite some time now and have been waiting to get my hands on a copy of my own.

However in an interview after E3 it came out that Sony USA had rejected the US version of SNK VS. Capcom : SVC Chaos and we are only going to see the game on the Xbox and the NeoGeo.

If you read this interview with one of the heads of SNK USA you will see the harsh truth of the matter.

SVC Chaos and Metal Slug 3 stand alone discs were not approved, for instance. But he was quick to defend Sony, saying that their standards are very high. According to Ben they’re not just about "2D=bad", they’re also very concerned about games bringing a new experience to the system.

So will there ever be Xbox exclusive games? Not at the moment. The Xbox exclusives in the US market (the aforementioned SVC Chaos and Metal Slug 3) only came about because of Sony’s rejection.

This sucks ass. I don't have any other way to put it.

Bill Gates and the XboxThe evil Digital Millennium Copyright Act makes the act of selling and distributing techniques to circumvent and defeat technological copy protection of "protected media". This makes the sale of PS2 mod-chips in the US illegal. A mod chip will not only allow you to play imported games but bootleg copies of games. I am not interested in the least about playing bootleg copies of games but I am quite interested in playing imported Japanese region 2 PS2 games on my US PS2.

I am apprehensions about opening up my PS2 and soldering in a bootleg chip from who knows where. However the PS2 slide card looks like it might do the trick so I will consider getting one before importing the Japanese PS2 version of SNK VS. Capcom : SVC Chaos from an importer like Video Game Depot.

Either that or I could pick up a used US Xbox after the release of the game on Xbox this fall. But I just don't think I am dope enough yet to own an Xbox again.

I personally love my Xbox. I already have SVC Chaos and Guilty Gear Reloaded on my buy radar.

I've always wanted to mod my PS2 so I could play some of the cool Japanese RPGs that never make it here, but there's no way I'm cracking the case and doing any soldering. I'll have to read up on the slide card solution. Let me know if you find out anything cool about it.

I love my Xbox. Had it since launch, and it payed off with the advent of solderless mod-chips for the Xbox *grins*. My Xbox is "dopified" to the extreme..

Not to mention the bulk of free-ware and open-source projects in the mod community (XBMC :: http://www.sliptide.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=49&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0 )

Well, that's it. Looks like Sony is going to force me to get one of those slide cards or PS2 flip-top covers and start importing. You tie my hands and I have to break the rules.

Then again, do I really want to play those games? They're 2D with low-quality graphics, and they do not bring a new experience to the Playstation, not like Kileak the DNA Imperative and the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen games. Now those are high-quality games.

I really am glad Sony has such high standards. If it weren't for them, I might be wasting my time on poor-quality 2D games like SNK vs. Capcom, instead of getting right to the high-standard, Sony-approved masterpieces like Army Men.

You seriously need to get an Xbox again. Everyone else on Xbox Live sucks ass with their heavy breathing. It's even worse when you're playing against two or more people who are friends and it's like eavesdropping on a phone conversation about how "that one chick at school totally wants you hurrr huh hurrr."

So obviously, I'm going to be needing a decent SVC opponent.

I have a mod chip and im happy with it, I have no copyed games becuase I have no DVD Burner I know some PS2 games will fit on CDs but I don't like to copy games.
Back to the point, DON'T get a slide card there have been diffrent results about it, some say it works fine and others say it killed there ps2, I don't what to think. I have heard no problems about the flip top it requires to replace your case on your PS2 and you have take it apart but its really easy and you can get it in white, blue or standard black.

I love my flip top. It's not 100%, but nothing short of a japanese ps2 is. It's also substantially cheaper than an xbox PLUS you're fighting the good fight. You can even have in installed in person at the kicks up near northgate.
