Dude I am Sooo Wired!!!

Jim Carrey as Cable GuyThe Cable Guy arrived on schedule and after a changing my existing wires to some new thicker cable wires He was able to get me hooked up in only 20 minutes. Give another twenty minutes to set up my network log on and do the paper work and another Twenty minutes to configure my router. So by 1:00 I was online with my computer both in Windows 2k and Linux as well as on my PS2 with the Network Adaptor. Once I was connected to the net the router, PS2 and Linux was a snap. It is super sweet and I am really going to be enjoying myself. I can load about twenty sites at once using Mozilla tabs!

I can watch the high speed versions of trailers from Apple Quicktime in almost real time and I upgraded Mozilla and Abiword in about 20 seconds. I played a game of Tony Hawk 4 online with the PS2 and I had to snicker when people on dialup were getting disconnected and timed out because that used to be me.

Brent From PVPOne thing that pissed me off is that they screwed up my name on the account and have me down as Jason Metcalf instead of Jacob Metcalf. I called Comcast and the only way to change it is to cancel my account or visit their office so that is not a major problem.

I didn't get a lot of sleep last night and I had to be up and waiting for the cable guy so I made about three cups of Starbucks Expresso Roast coffee in my drip coffee maker. Now the way I like to make coffee is that is more resembles black tar heroin than traditional coffee so I am flying pretty fast right now both on the Net and my pulse.

But I need to go eat some real food before the coffee and high speed Internet access kills my gut. But I don't want to leave my precious!

Can't you order pizza online over there? :p

The local Pizza Hut (we have 2 of them here) accepts online ordering, but I've yet to try it.

Another pizzeria up north uses Flash in their ordering system.

Dude Tonight I got pulled over and the cop made me take a sobriety test.....I PASSED!!!! I RULE!!!
Well it isnt that simple. I was being tailgated by a copper and didnt realize it was a cop (ford explorer unmarked) and this went on for about 3 miles and this cop was 3 feet off my bumper trying to intimidate me and it worked. So I sped up to about 80 mph and he paced me the whole way. Remember I didn't realize it was a cop. So then he pulls me over and smells the fat tire ale i had been sipping all night. Now dont get me wrong I wasnt anywhere near intoxicated at the time but that stuff REEKS for hours. So he smelled it and gave me a field sobriety test. I passed with flying colors and the cop looked dissapointed as hell so he called another cop and that cop flashed some red light in my eyes and made me follow it without moving my head. OK so these geniuses finally figure out that I am not intoxicated but they give me a ticket for .....drumroll....842.00$ for 80 mph in a 40mph zone. I still passed thier little stupid piss-ass test and i plan to fight this in court. This should be interesting. Sorry for the long reply but i just got home and it is 3am and i just wanted to "share"... DUDE I AM SO WASTED! Just kidding....I should write a post on the field sobriety test procedure though...it would be interesting.

Also. Someone should make this a part of GTA3 where you have to pass a field sobriety test...that would be kind of neat. But you get to shoot the cops if you fail the test so maybe it wouldnt be all that exciting after all.

There is a word for that. Entrapment The last time I was pulled over the cop did the same thing by getting about three feet behind me on the free way. If you have a relitivly clean drivers record you should be able to beat this in court.

Actually if you just posted this comment as it own post it would work

I think the cops in Liberty and Vice City know better and that is a good way to get shot if you are right by the pay and spray.

Yeah I am going to court dammit. The cop said he originally thought my car was someone elses car that got away from him before...heh. The cops laptops suck and it looks like they run dos only.

I have a few questions about the PS2 network adapter:

Do you have to pay for any kind of network play? Or can I just hook up to other people playing Tony Hawk 4?

Should I get the Sony network adapter or do you think the cheaper generic one works fine?

I have a cable modem with wireless router (and 4 ports for wired connections) ... have you had any problems with your cable modem/router connection to the network adapter?

thanks!

No and yes. For the most part Sony would like to have game companies not charge for online play but the only exception to this is Online RPGS such as Everquest Adventures, StarWars Galaxies and if they ever bring it out Final Fantasy X1. But it does not cost anything to play Tony Hawk 4 online. I would also suggest getting a USB keyboard so you can talk smack. Any USB keyboard works and you just hook it up to the USB ports under the memory card on your PS2.

The generic one might not work in the future so the 10 bucks you would save is pointless if next year you have to buy a Sony one. It is only $40 and that is a good deal considering it is an Ethernet port and a modem. Plus you need an an official one for the PS2 Hard Drive if they ever bring it out to the States.

Once I had my cable modem and Router up and running I used the Sony Internet software to make an online config file that the online games like Tony Hawk 4 and Twisted Metal Online use. It was actually really fast and quick because the default setting to the wizards worked for me but there is the manual options if you are running a firewall

GameFaqs does have a faq on online gaming with the PS2.

Now if you excuse me I am going to go lay the smack down with some Twisted metal Black online
