Do Some Xbox 360 have Problems Ejecting the Disk Tray?

While it is not as major a problem as the RROD. Recently my Xbox 360 will only eject the disk tray if it's horizontal and then it will only eject the tray about 70% of the time. It will just catch and not move the tray out and then "close it" and read the disk that might not be there.

My co-worker has an Xbox 360 from around the same time as mine and he has had the same problem. I have a late generation "Xenon" 360 and he has a "Zepher".

It's quite annoying at times and can be a pain if I have a direct chat with a friend and we want to switch games but my tray is acting up. I get the same problem trying to eject it from the button on the tray or from the dashboard.

Has anyone else had this problem?

since day one. its a POS. i have to tap on the tray 4 times then it will come out. sometimes it will close on its own without a disk in it, then im really screwed, because it wont open no matter how many times i tap on it/throw it across the room. and i have to manually eject it with a paperclip, what a joke.

Had this problem for a long time. Currently it's like this: no disc inside = no eject & must use a pin. disc inside = no problems. Sucks.

YES! This problem has also just hit me! I keep my 360 at vertical position and it started happening about two months ago, I recently switched to placing my 360 horizontally which just made it worse!

It seems to happen about 8/10 times of opening, which is very annoying as you can imagine, I now have to haul my fat arse off the sofa and prise it open with something every time I want to change a game!

Anyone got any ideas for fixes? Apart from training my pet dog to do it! (and yes, I have started to do that)

The drive actuating belt hardens in these units, more so when they are exposed to the heat that the drive absorbs by sitting directly on top of the GPU. If you've got the know-how, recondition the drive belt and you should be good to go.

I have had two 360's RROD. I borrowed a friends and his has the CD tray issue. It works, but it seems to catch on eject. I have to tap it to open the tray.
