Coming Soon to a Election Ballot Near You

I found out today that my application to Institute for a Democratic Future was accepted and I am going to be a part of the 2006 class.

The Institute for a Democratic future is a training program set up by members of the Washington State Democratic Party to find and support young candidates to one day run for public office and support building a lasting long term progressive political majority here in Washington State.

Washington's 26th district House Representative Derek Kilmer is a graduate of IDF and he is the main inspiration for me to do this. He is only two years older than me. He is the first member of my generation to run for elected office and win. Not to mention he is one hell of a nice guy.

This is a mostly a weekend program over the next couple months and it is not going to be affecting my day job or this site but who knows I might be on the ballot in 2008, 2010 or later for Washington State Legislature.

Well to vote in washington state you need to be a US Citizen, Over 18 and live here in the state. I probably will not be running for state wide office when I do run but rather for local legislature.
