Cheap Beer Killed My Keyboard
This past weekend I was enjoying a can of cheap American beer (PBR) while checking my email and I turned around to pay attention to my cat and I knocked the can into my Apple USB Keyboard. By the time I noticed it a couple seconds later it was too late and entire the can had poured into the keyboard.
I quickly unplugged it and pulled the power cord out of the wall since the overflow was running over the back of the table and on to the floor. My Laptop was safe since it was on a laptop stand to keep it eyelevel and cool and my external DVD+RW and hard drives were not in the way of the spill but it made a big mess and I cursed like a sailor.
Since Apple used these little hexagonal screws on they keyboard I was not able to open it up and get the liquid out. I had to drain it by holding it over the sink and I let it dry for a few days. Yesterday was the first time that I tried it out and it was dead as a doornail. Currently I am using an old Microsoft USB keyboard that I got at a garage sale but it just is not right to hit the "Windows Key" for an Apple command. Ah well so I learned an important lesson about liquids and computers and I hope you all did too.
It was technically "The Suck"!
So what kind of keyboard should I get for a permanent replacement?
Update: I've been using Logitech mice for years and tonight I am going to see if I can find a Logitech Keyboard at a local store.
Durable, spill-resistant design: Don't baby it. Liquid drains out of the keyboard, protecting your investment from accidental spills.
All of their keyboards seam to be designed to be "spill resistant". I am going to get one of these and put and Apple sticker over the "Windows" key.

How about trying the dishwasher? And/or buy a cheapo free shipping Torx set from dealextreme.com to open up that keyboard?

I already got a good Logitech keyboard to replace it.
My old Apple keyboard was dry but I think it got shorted out by all the liquid beer.
