Canadian video chip set and card maker ATI have announced today that they are forming an alliance with Nintendo .. most likely against the Xbox union of Microsoft and Nvidia and the super power of Sony.
No details have been given but since ATI currently supplies the chip set for the Gamecube the only logical conclusion is that they are talking about the game system that will be after the Gamecube that I have dubbed the Gamesphere Ultra 256 until an official name comes out.
So based on this it looks like the rumor that Nintendo was courting NEC to build the post Gamecube system is being thrown out.
Who knows.. perhaps the Gameboy Next will have an ATI chip in it?
