Bob Metcalfe invented Ethernet

I just did some shopping and took got my first piece of hardware for a cable modem. I got a Net Gear 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet card and tomorrow I am going to be calling ATT broadband and see when is the soonest I can schedule the phone/cable dude to come hook me up. I went to Best Buy and the 17 year old guy working there was helpful in answering my questions and did not try to push the order and the guy uses Linux so he knows what will work with my hardware. It looks like Attbi recommends a Motorola Cable modem. So that is what I will be getting a day or so before I get hooked up. I didn't get one today because the waiting will be so tantalizing like a child waiting to open a Christmas present.

I also need to get a Cable/DSL Router so I can hook up my PS2, Macintosh, and Xbox. I have heard good things about LinkSys but the guy recommended a Net Gear Router.

The games that are tempting me to get an Xbox Live connection are Capcom VS SNK2 EO and Marvel VS Capcom 2. I know I have them on Dreamcast but to play them over a high speed network with voice is just to god damn tempting. Also Halo2 and Unreal Championship look fun as well. I started practicing on Capcom VS SNK2 by whooping the computer on the hardest setting to get me ready for the constant stream of ass kicking that I am going to dish out.

I am going to get 8bitJoystick as my XboxLive Gamer Tag.

You know ethernet was invented by a guy named Bob Metcalfe so I guess it is a family duty to get the fastest net connection possible,
