Beware the DVD commentary track
This weekend I have had a good time relaxing by getting away from my PC, the net and stuff but one thing that I want to ask about.
When the hell did they start requiring a legal disclaimer from the publisher on every DVD with a commentary track?
My own personal theory is that Kevin Smith is involved. He has the most interesting commentary tracks. On the commentary track on the Chasing Amy Laserdisc he said "F**k DVD" and then later went on to apologize for it on the Chasing Amy DVD. That is not as nearly as bad as the Dogma SE DVD commentary track. Not only is it an already controversial movie but he had a serious issue with the lead actress in the movie. On the commentary track he said that he regrets chosing her for the movie. But then again it was a movie that had a walking demon made out of feces.
I have never heard of a court case involving a DVD commentary track but I would not rule it out.
There used to not be a disclaimer on DVDs for the first years or so. Are we such a sue prone society that we have to have a legal disclaimer before every single opinion or commentary statement? I don't see how a commentary track is different from a radio show or a written opinion column in a newspaper.
Ah well.

I'm sorry he chose her too. I personally don't like her work in anything i've seen her in, and she was the least interesting and likable character in the movie. she was as interesting to watch as the box my junior mints came in.

I actualy like Linda Fiorentino a lot. I also think she's pretty hot. What exactly was Kevin Smith's complaint about her?

He said that she was hard to work with and that he regretted casting her. He said that the movie would have been better if he cast Janeane Garofalo in the lead instead of a bit part.

Janeane Garofalo wants me so badly... she's so freaking hot.

Well she is a blonde now.

With Janeane Garofalo in the movie, it probably would have been a lot funnier.

With that amount of bad commentary out there ( http://dvd.ign.com/articles/496/496425p1.html ), the studios should put the disclaimers on to cover their asses.

Linda Fiorentino's acting was the reason why to date I haven't finished watching it. And I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, but she acted like it was a school play!
