Ah there much better
I just got my notebook back from my local indy computer shop and it is damn good to have everything working. Since I acted soon I did not loose any data and all my programs work just fine but now I have 40 new gigs to fill up with MP3s and other assorted stuff.
I tell ya it sort of feels like a brand new machine and the fan is much quieter now than it was when I had the old hard drive. I still have my old hard drive full of all my old data. I will have to come up with a good way to destroy it. I think I'll take it apart and then put it in the freezer over night then run some water over it and then throw it out. I don't mean to be too paranoid but I would like to point out that old financial paperwork, junk mail and unsolicited credit card offers make wonderful tinder for a nice warm fire on a winter night.

If you make sure every disc inside is cracked, it should be pretty much unreadable.
also, if you take it apart and throw it away in parts at different times, nobody will be able to use the individual parts.
