A Question for Seattlest.com : Where The Hell Are The Videogames?

SeattlestXbox.jpgI just realized something strange about one of my favorite websites Seattlest.com. They do not really mention video games or computer games.

Seattle has become a video game holy land being the home of Microsoft, Bungie, Nintendo, Gas Powered Games, Valve, Sierra (R.I.P.), Penny Arcade and about a million billion video game playing nerds. Here in Western Washington the weather can often be rainy and crappy and playing video games is a revered local pastime as much as drinking coffee and writing C# code. Hell we even have a slightly crazy local homeless kid who goes around dressed up as Link from Legend of Zelda

Let me prove my point.

Here is the returns of various Google searches of video game related words on Seattlest.com
Wii = 2
Nintendo = 14
Xbox = 47
Nintendo DS = 2
Xbox 360 = 25
Gameboy = 2
Video games = 48

And here are the non video game nerd word searches.
Sonics = 744
Seahawks = 200
Seahawk = 27
Baseball = 197
Mariners = 344
Mariner = 2,860
Sports = 2700
Basketball = 458
Coffee = 899
Starbucks = 1060
Espresso = 73

So Seattlest mentions Starbucks 75 times the number they mention Nintendo.

Really who deserves more coverage a baseball player or Gordon Freeman,? A basketball player or Halo's Master Chief. They are both major LOCAL media stars. Seattlest.com goes on and on about Grey's Anatomy and that show is about 98% filmed outside of Seattle.

Sperling’s BestPlaces listed Seattle as the 1# best place for Videogames in 2006 and Microsoft is proud of that.

So with constructive criticism in my heart I ask you Seattlest.com "Where the hell are the video games"?

Editorial Disclaimer note : I occasionally review games for The Stranger.

Update : Sorry Seattlest.com I sent an email to the Gmail account but you are right that I need to put up another Contact US FAQ page up. I had one but then redesigned. I do read all my comments.

Some possible video game related stories Seattle you could do.
Take a Tour of Microsoft in Redmond and meet the Xbox team
Interview Xbox Lives Major Nelson ( MajorNelson.com )
Take a tour of Nintendo in Redmond
Interview Gabe and Tycho of Penny-arcade.com
Take a tour of Valve Software
Interview Gordon Freeman
Take a tour of Bungie
Interview the Master Chief
Take a trip to Pink Godzilla Games down at the ID ( pinkgodzillagames.com )

Now as far as getting a Wii that is a bit tricky. I preordered mine a while ago but Microsoft would love to sell you an Xbox 360 filled with Xmas Xbox Cheer.

It is the back lash effect. So many people are talking about Microsoft Xbox that it becomes a negative thing to talk about. Disco is not dead!
