8bitjoystick.com Now in Available Convenient Locally Distributed Dead-Tree Edition.

Last night my first game review for The Stranger was printed and distributed to hundreds of places all over western Washington State. The articles will also appear on their website so those of you who live outside the greater Seattle area or are more down with teh intarweb than dead tree edition distribution can check it out.

I am actually really excited about the fact that an article that I wrote was printed and is going to be read by thousands of people all over Western Washington. There is probably some folks sitting in a stank coffee shop today glancing over it as they sip their latte right freaking now.

I am stoked about the fact that it is The Stranger since I started reading it years ago and hold it in high regard. The Stranger is a long running and still locally owned and operated alternative weekly paper that is distributed for free. It is the un-official beat of Seattle and their slogan "Seattle Only Newspaper" has a bit of truth to it since it has readers that Seattle two official papers don't have. The Stranger is at times irreverent but still offers some of the best coverage of real issues affecting modern life in Washington State. It is also well know for coverage of local music, arts politics and an absolutely fascinating personal ad section that is worth reading for freelance sociology purposes. My girlfriend Kymberly was reading The Stranger when I first met her. But enough Dan Savage worship for now.

I am going to be writing a game review every other week and will actually be paid for them rather than a just having Google AdSense kick in on occasion. I am not going to quit my day job but this is a very nice hobby. I see this supporting 8bitjoystick.com in that the funds that I do get I plan on investing in games to play and review on this website and future print endeavors. This gig is a direct result of writing for this website.

Over the next couple weeks I am going to be contacting game companies and trying to get hooked up with some review copies of games and press access. Then I am going to see if I can write my Xbox 360 off on my taxes since it is a business expense.

So check out the website and if you are in Washington State go grab the physical paper and then proceed to buy all the products and services advertised therein. Especially Zan the "Rad Dyke" plummer.
